To celebrate opening day and the rites of spring, here's a little baseball news with a local flavor. From the Sunday, July 20, 1924 Champaign News-Gazette:

Introducing The Kincaid Cubs

Here they are - the Kincaid Cubs, who will be seen in action against the Legion at 3 o'clock this afternoon at the I. C. [Illinois Central] diamond.

This team, recently organized, has not lost a game and feels the fans have a right to look for better teams than coming here. Most of the players are local men or men who have played on local teams.

The teams is fully equipped with new uniforms and other accessories that tend to make a ball club. The Kincaid Motor Company, which recently took over the club, is furnishing the new outfits.
